The charges against current and former City of Vernon officials are a concern to Vernon business and property owners.

Vernon is not like any other city. Our thriving industries, including food and agriculture, apparel, recycling, steel, plastics, logistics and cold storage, are an important economic driver of the Southern California economy. The city has the lowest utility rates in Southern California, nationally ranked police and fire services, and a highly responsive, stream-lined, and business-friendly city government.

While the Vernon Chamber of Commerce supports the city’s exclusively industrial mission and its excellent employees, we are vehemently against corruption and the squandering of our tax dollars. We are concerned about the city’s reputation, and make it our focus to protect and preserve the dynamic and thriving business community that employs approximately 44,000 people with many well-paid manufacturing jobs.

The Vernon Chamber will maintain its focus on protecting and preserving the interests of business and defend the industrial nature of the city. The Chamber is a separate voice representative of the business community in Vernon and will continue to work on behalf of the business community as a whole.
